Description
In the parish of Barca, near the house that was old rectory, is a tree that, according to local tradition, was planted by Camilo Castelo Branco, in his youth, around the years 1848.
Camilo Ferreira Botelho Castelo Branco (Lisbon, March 16, 1825 - San Miguel de Seide, June 1, 1890) was a Portuguese writer. Camilo was Portuguese novelist, and chronicler, critic, playwright, historian, poet and translator.
He had a troubled life that was often used as inspiration for his novels. He was the first writer in Portugal to live solely on his literary writings. Despite having to write for an audience, thus subjecting themselves to the dictates of fashion, managed to have a very original writing.
